They are an independent organisation which regulates the UK’s broadcasting, telecommunications and wireless communications sectors. They also set and enforce rules on fair competition between companies in these industries
Press Complaints Commission
The Press Complaints Commission is an independent body which deals with complaints from members of the public about the editorial content of newspapers and magazines. Their service to the public is free, quick and easy. They aim to deal with most complaints in just 35 working days - and there is absolutely no cost to the people complaining
Prison Media Monitoring Unit
The Unit scrutinizes British media coverage of prison and prisoners. Its monthly bulletins highlight errors, misinformation and distortion about prison issues which, the Unit believes, may have a significant effect on government policy and public attitudes towards prison, punishment and social control. Bulletins are based upon data collected from UK national daily newspapers
